Hostile Environment Awareness Training

In view of the positive response to the courses for journalists, we have established several new course variants since 2005 which are tailored to the requirements of the respective target groups and customers. Under the course title HEAT - another course designed to prepare the participants for their deployments to a crisis region - the centre subsumes those courses that are customised to the training needs of the Federal Foreign Office, the German Association for International Cooperation (GIZGesellschaft für internationale Zusammenarbeit), the Centre for International Peace Operations (ZIFZentrum für Internationale Friedenseinsätze) and other institutions.
It covers training subjects such as self-protection, first response to threat situations and risk minimisation.
The following details all pieces of information that are relevant for future participants prior to arriving at the training centre.
The course participants learn to recognise, assess, avoid and, if required, respond to threat situations in crisis areas. They learn how to effectively protect themselves and increase their survivability. They learn to apply basic techniques and procedures in response to military force and/or any other form of armed force in crisis and conflict regions.
