BAAINBw

The main mission of BAAINBw is to provide the Bundeswehr with the efficient and safe defense equipment it requires. This also includes information technology. We focus on the development, testing, procurement and in-service support management of materiel.  BAAINBw handles a broad range of products including highly complex weapon and IT systems, tanks, aircraft, vessels as well as clothing for service personnel. 

The project directorates of BAAINBw are responsible for: 

• management of complex projects
• system technology and integration
• research and technology
• technical and economic aspects of  in-service support management
• procurement of any equipment required by them

In addition, BAAINBw handles the technical analysis of foreign defense materiel, damage inspections, equipment aid for a number of non-NATO countries as well as the training of technical-career civil servants for the Bundeswehr as a whole. 

Its remit also includes the disposal of condemned defense materiel. Please direct any private inquiries concerning the purchase of such materiel to VEBEG GmbH in Frankfurt.

BAAINBw is headed by a Director-General and two Deputy Director-Generals.

To support the executive group, the following staffs have been established: the Executive Staff/Executive Secretary of BAAINBw, the Legal Affairs Staff and the Bundeswehr Innovation Center.
