The mission of BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr

The main mission of BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr is to provide the Bundeswehr with the efficient and safe defense equipment it requires. This also includes information technology. We focus on the development, testing, procurement and in-service support management of materiel.  BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr handles a broad range of products including highly complex weapon and ITInformationstechnik systems, tanks, aircraft, vessels as well as clothing for service personnel.

In addition, BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr handles the technical analysis of foreign defense materiel, damage inspections, equipment aid for a number of non-NATO countries as well as the training of technical-career civil servants for the Bundeswehr as a whole.

We are the expert equipment provider for the Bundeswehr.

This section will tell you how to get to three of the Koblenz premises of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr). There are two ways to reach your destination: by car or by public transport.

Getting here by car

  • Leave the A61 motorway at “Kreuz Koblenz” interchange and take the A48. Take the exit at “Koblenz-Nord” and turn onto the B9 towards Koblenz.
  • Continue along the B9 towards the city center. When crossing the Europabrücke bridge across the Moselle, keep to the second lane from the left. Once you have crossed the river and passed under the railway overpass, you will find yourself on Friedrich-Ebert-Ring road.
  • After the fourth streetlight (pedestrian light), turn right at once, following the signs for Deutsches Eck. Follow the main road. At the next traffic light, turn left (90°). After passing the next pedestrian light, move one lane to the right. Stay on the main road and, at the end of the street, turn right to Clemensplatz.
  • After the next left turn, turn right at the first opportunity (Im Vogelsang). At the end of the street, turn left.
  • You will find the BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr entrance located to your right.

Getting here by public transport

  • After arriving at Koblenz Main Station, take bus line 1 and get off at „Görresplatz“.
  • Continue in the direction of travel of the bus. At the crossing of Karmeliterstraße and Rheinstraße, you will find an entrance to BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr.


Getting here by car

  • Leave the A61 motorway at “Kreuz Koblenz” interchange and take the A48.
  • Change to the A48 and take the exit “Koblenz-Nord”.
  • Turn onto the B9 towards Koblenz. Continue along the B9 towards the city center. When crossing the Europabrücke bridge across the Moselle, keep to the right-most lane, following the signs for Cochem.
  • You are now on the B49. Follow the road. Having passed the Total gas station, continue for another 100 meters. At the next traffic light, turn left into Ferdinand-Sauerbruch-Straße. Keep left. At the next crossing, turn left again.
  • After about 500 meters, you will find BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr to your right.

  • After arriving at Koblenz Main Station, take bus line 20 and get off at “Blücherstraße”.
  • Continue in the direction of travel of the bus. After about 20 meters, you will find BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr to your right.

Getting here by car via A3

  • At „Dreieck Dernbach“ interchange, change to the A48 towards Koblenz/Trier. Leave the motorway at “Bendorf”. Take the B42 towards Lahnstein.
  • Take the exit towards Lahnstein. At the roundabout, take the third exit.
  • Continue along towards „Im Lag“ and turn right at the first opportunity to enter Rittersturz barracks.

Getting here by car via A61

  • Leave the A61 at “Kreuz Koblenz” interchange and take the A48 towards Koblenz. Leave the motorway at “Koblenz-Nord” and turn onto the B9 towards Koblenz.
  • After crossing the Europabrücke bridge over the Moselle, keep to the right lane, following the signs for Boppard/Lahnstein. Follow the road over the Südbrücke bridge (B327) across the Rhine, heading for the B49 towards Montabaur.
  • Take the exit towards Lahnstein. At the roundabout, take the third exit.
  • Continue along towards „Im Lag“ and turn right at the first opportunity to enter Rittersturz barracks.
