The Bundeswehr Firefighting and Fire Protection Office

The Bundeswehr Firefighting and Fire Protection Office (BrdSchABwBrandschutzamt der Bundeswehr) ensures hazard prevention in all those Bundeswehr facilities where the employment of Bundeswehr-own fire services is required due to the mission, for reasons of secrecy or a particularly high hazard potential. The BrdSchABwBrandschutzamt der Bundeswehr is responsible for all activities and measures related to active fire protection at Bundeswehr facilities in Germany.
Comprising approximately 140 staff members, its headquarters are located at Generaloberst Beck Barracks in Sonthofen, Bavaria. At the subordinate level, there are the regional coordination centres in Ulm, Cologne, Hamburg and Burg with their respective fire stations. The Bundeswehr Firefighting and Fire Protection Office has a total of more than 3,800 personnel.

We provide fire safety and protection to the forces! Our job is to counter the special risks related to military service while ensuring the proper employment of personnel and material, the coordination of the associated logistic services as well as the continuation and proficiency training of Bundeswehr firefighters. For this reason, we are present at numerous Bundeswehr installations, such as:

•    underground sites
•    naval landing facilities
•    training areas
•    logistic facilities
•    Bundeswehr technical centres and research institutes
