The Armed Forces Office pools capabilities and tasks relevant to all areas of the Bundeswehr. These capabilities and tasks are an indispensable element of the Bundeswehr Joint Support Command and ensure the armed forces’ ability to function as well as their operational readiness.
The Armed Forces Office performs conceptual tasks for the Bundeswehr, for example with regard to the development of an operational reserve and the training of units ready for defence. In addition, in terms of administrative matters, the Office pools various smaller areas of activity relevant to all Services. These areas include not only training areas and dog handling but also military music and the promotion of top-level sport in the Bundeswehr. This variety of tasks makes the Armed Forces Office unique and essential for the Bundeswehr’s ability to function and fight wars.
Major General Oliver Kohl,
Commander of the Armed Forces Office
Bundeswehr
Whether training areas or the conceptual development of a reserve ready for defence is concerned, we make a major contribution to a Bundeswehr that is able to function and capable of fighting wars.
What are the joint tasks?
The Armed Forces Office is responsible for joint Bundeswehr tasks, which include, for instance, military music for ceremonial events, the promotion of top-level athletes with the goal of enabling them to participate in the Olympic Games, the development of the Bundeswehr Reserve Concept, the management of training areas and the training of working dogs.
