Address

  • What does the coat of arms of the Regional Territorial Command Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania represent?

The coat of arms of the Regional Territorial Command Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is based on the greater coat of arms of the federal state. While in the greater coat of arms the bull’s head representing the Mecklenburg region is depicted twice (signifying Mecklenburg-Schwerin in the upper left and Mecklenburg-Strelitz in the lower right), the coat of arms of the Regional Territorial Command shows the Iron Cross in the upper left as a symbol and identifier of the Bundeswehr. The griffin represents the eastern region Western Pomerania; the red eagle represents those areas of the Uckermark region that are part of the federal state. The eagle thereby symbolises the historical connection between Pomerania and Brandenburg.
