1 Surface-to-Air Missile Wing has the mission to contribute – as part of the extended integrated air defense – to the protection of the population and the territory of Germany in accordance with the risk and threat levels, and to international conflict prevention and crisis management.
What is of particular importance in this connection is the protection of allied and own forces, areas, objects, object groups and mobile land forces in theaters of operations abroad against the entire spectrum of advanced air assets including ballistic missiles. Training in these operational capabilities and preparation of the wing take place in multiservice, national and multinational exercises and verifications. The wing must perform its tasks under all climatic and weather conditions, paying particular attention to the principle of network-enabled operations.
