The Bundeswehr Office for Defence Planning is part of the Bundeswehr Joint Support Command, and is a major command staffed by both military and civilian personnel. It is divided into four directorates. In addition to its head office in Berlin, it has a branch office in Taufkirchen.
The Bundeswehr Office for Defence Planning is responsible for the non-ministerial component of the planning process. In this capacity, it coordinates all planning steps of the subordinate organisational elements in the area of responsibility of the Federal Ministry of Defence. As the central requesting agency for all major military and civilian organisational elements of the Bundeswehr, the Bundeswehr Office for Defence Planning ensures Bundeswehr-wide planning under one roof. Moreover, the scientific support provided by the Bundeswehr Office for Defence Planning extends to all Bundeswehr planning categories and areas of application. To this end, its military and civilian personnel collaborate closely and routinely with all major organisational elements of the Bundeswehr.
