CBRN defence in the Bundeswehr

CBRN defence is a key capability of the Bundeswehr Joint Support Command in hybrid threat situations and in a state of defence. The Bundeswehr’s CBRN defence specialists protect the armed forces and ensure their survivability. Whether in national and collective defence or in hybrid threat situations, CBRN defence forces are indispensable. They detect and identify chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear hazards; neutralise threats; and guarantee sustainable operational readiness. In a state of defence, they are capable of ensuring force protection like hardly any other of the arms and services.

There is no survivability without protection and no warfighting capability without CBRN defence. We ensure the operational readiness of the troops even in contaminated environments.

CBRN defence tasks

From the detection and identification of dangerous substances to decontamination and CBRN protective measures – CBRN defence ensures the troops’ success on operations, even in the face of chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear threats.
