The Bundeswehr Joint Support Command has the complex and important mission of ensuring health care within the Bundeswehr. While carrying out this mission, it focuses primarily on protecting, maintaining and restoring the health of servicemen and women in Germany and abroad – whether this involves treating illnesses during routine duty or wounds suffered in combat. The Bundeswehr Medical Service, with its capability to provide preventive health care, medical treatment and rehabilitation, enhances the operational readiness and sustainability of the armed forces.

The Bundeswehr Medical Service strengthens resilience and deterrence. Without our support, the sustainability and warfighting capability of the service members and of the Bundeswehr as a whole cannot be ensured in the long term.

What are our tasks?

The Bundeswehr Medical Service is responsible for providing medical care to Bundeswehr personnel all around the world. It provides medical, dental, veterinary, pharmaceutical and food chemistry services to the servicemen and women, cares for casualties, maintains the troops’ resilience, and contributes to deterrence.
