Civil-military cooperation (CIMIC) is essential for national and collective defence as well as for disaster assistance. CIMIC involves coordinating cooperation between the Bundeswehr and civilian actors, ranging from civilian authorities to NGOs. In times of crisis or war, CIMIC thus ensures that there is an exchange of information between military operators and the civilian environment. As part of the Bundeswehr Joint Support Command, CIMIC forces make a major contribution to accomplishing military objectives in the theatre of operations, ideally in harmony with the civilian society. Thus, CIMIC forces support the sustainability of the Bundeswehr as a parliamentary army.

As CIMIC professionals, we enable cooperation between governmental or non-governmental civilian organisations and the private sector on the one side and the Bundeswehr on the other. Hence, the Bundeswehr is able to provide better support to the civilian sector if necessary, and the military may rely on comprehensive civilian support in case of war.
