In 2023, 37 Armoured Infantry Brigade is part of NATO's rapid response force known as the Very High Readiness Joint Task Force (VJTFVery High Readiness Joint Task Force ). The VJTFVery High Readiness Joint Task Force enables NATO to respond to developments in the security situation even more quickly and flexibly. It thus makes an important contribution to national and collective defence.

The route to VJTFVery High Readiness Joint Task Force 2023

37 Armoured Infantry Brigade participated in various exercises with national and international partners to prepare for its NATO mission and thus laid important foundations for its operational readiness as a digitally networked multinational battle group.

Large-scale exercise 'Wettiner Heide'

For two weeks, 7,500 soldiers of units from nine NATO countries trained in the NRFNATO Response Force exercise 'Wettiner Heide' held in the Bergen/Munster area. The exercise included another part of the certification process for VJTFVery High Readiness Joint Task Force 2023.

Final steps

The exercises 'Stolzer Wettiner', 'Wettiner Schwert' and 'Cougar Sword' serve to prepare 37 Armoured Infantry Brigade for leading the multinational land components of the VJTFVery High Readiness Joint Task Force and to certify the German battle group.
