Air Operations Command

The Air Operations Command (AOCOM) is a major command of the German Air Force and acts as its competence center for planning and conducting air operations.
The AOCOM combines mission-essential elements such as the Air Force’s combat information center with the interministerial National Air Security Center, the interministerial Space Operations Center, the Air Intelligence Center and the Air Force Geoinformation Center, which perform their functions synergistically and, to a large extent, around the clock.
For the planning, command and control of multinational air force operations, the AOCOM also provides the German Joint Force Air Component Headquarters (JFACJoint Forces Air Component HQHeadquarters), liaison elements for the land forces (ALICE) and the Special Operations Air Task Group Headquarters (SOATG HQHeadquarters) for the support of special forces as important operational components of the NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization) force structure or the European Union (EU).
The AOCOM provides the decisive part of the training and follow-on training of national and international course participants in the field of planning, command and control of air operations.
As a command authority, the AOCOM exercises command and control of units tasked with supporting the conduct and the command and control capability of air operations, German elements in multinational agencies abroad in which the Air Force participates with personnel as well as the Air Force's liaison organization to the other armed services.
