The organizational structure of the AINAusrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung organizational element
The AINAusrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung organizational element is made up of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr) and its agencies in Germany and the United States of America.
Well-equipped for all its tasks
The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr) reports to the Directorate-General for Armament of the Federal Ministry of Defense. It is supported by six Bundeswehr Technical Centers and two Bundeswehr Research Institutes. The Naval Arsenal, another BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr agency, is responsible for ensuring the operational readiness of the German fleet. The German Liaison Office in Reston, USA, represents Germany’s defense technology and defense industry interests vis-à-vis USUnited States and Canadian government organizations and industry.
The main task of the major organizational element AINAusrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung is to provide the Bundeswehr with efficient and safe equipment. The focus of its work lies on the development, testing, procurement and in-service support management of defense materiel. Some of these tasks are carried out by the Bundeswehr itself, others are accomplished through contracts awarded to industry.
The equipment to be provided ranges from highly complex weapon and ITInformationstechnik systems to tanks, aircraft and ships through to personal equipment items for our soldiers. Like a one-stop shop, BAAINBwBundesamt für Ausrüstung, Informationstechnik und Nutzung der Bundeswehr bears the overall responsibility during the entire process from the development of proposed solutions to realization and in-service support management and finally the disposal of materiel.
